Perform Umrah: In Arabic, the word Umrah is derived from the word I’timaar which means a Visit. A Muslim should perform an Umrah once in a lifetime but is optional for him to perform it more than once. Umrah Packages are best for this, Umrah is one prestigious prayer and every Muslim Men and women alike want to perform it at-least once in a lifetime. In Islamic terminology, Umrah means to do Tawaf of KABBAH. Umrah can be performed at any time of the Lunar year, there is no specific time to perform Umrah.
How to Perform Umrah?
There are Four steps one needs to follow to perform the Umrah:
- Ihram
- Tawaf of KABBAH
- Say’ee between the hills of Safa and Marwah
- Shaving or Clipping of Hair
IHRAM:
Ihram is assume at Meeqat. Basically two white sheets of cloth used to cover the upper body and waist of a MAN for women their ordinary clothes are their Ihram. To be in Ihram one must firstly comb his hair, shape his beard, trim his mustache, cut nails and get rid of unwant body hair and then take a bath to purify himself with intention of Ihram or do wudu. And then wear the Ihram and offer Nafl-Salah by covering your head, after offering nafl-salah declare Intention and Talbiyah. Do Du’a.
After Intention and Talbiyah one is in state of Ihram which has its prohibition’s which are:
- Cover head (men), cover face (women)
- Cover the middle bone of upper part of feet
- Shave\cut hair
- Cut Nails
- Wear Perfume
- Wear unstitched clothes (men)
- Hunting Killing
- Sex
Tawaf of KABBAH:
Tawaf means Circling around something. Here it means moving around KABBAH.
To do tawaf one needs to follow the following steps:
- Preparation
- Niyyat (Intention)
- Istilam
- Tawaf (tawaf starts after Niyyat)
- Ramal
- Supplications of Tawaf
- HatimRukn Yamani & its supplications
- Seven circuits
End of tawaf:
As the tawaf ends now one must go to Multazam, a place which is five or six feet in length between Hajar-e-Aswad and the door of KABBAH. This is a extremely holy place where prayers are accept. Next offer two rakahs of nafls behind and close to Maqam Ibrahim without covering your Head. Zamzam is the best available water in the world. Drink this water to fill while in standing position saying Bismillah.
SAY’EE:
To perform Say’ee one must follow these steps:
- Istilam of Hajr-e-Aswad
- Start Say’ee at Safa
- Proceed towards Marwah
At Marwah praise Allah facing the KABBAH and repeat the same supplications that were recited at Safa. One trip is over, second trip will be on Safa and third trip will be on Marwah. End of Say’ee
Shaving or Clipping of Hair:
After Say’ee, men should get their heads completely shave or get their hair clipped to the length of the upper third of their finger or a little more. Both shaving and clipping are permissible for men, though shaving is preferable. Women are, however, allowe to have a lock of their hair clippe. They are forbidden to shave their heads.
